About the house
Welcome to our home. We hope you enjoy your stay.

Upper Doreys Mill was built beside the Washbrook stream in the
1770s as a cloth mill and later used as a cornmill.
It was converted to three cottages in 1881.
We converted it to one large house and began B&B in
1988.
Whilst carrying out renovations we have tried to retain and
enhance any period features, resulting in an unique house with a
lot of character.
Built of Cotswold stone, it has old beams and stone fireplaces,
where we have log fires (woodburning stoves) in the Winter and cool
Summer evenings. There is a colour T.V. with satellite and cards
and board games to play, perhaps with a glass of wine, beside the
crackling fire.

There is a comfy settee and chairs to relax in.
We have WIFI.
The garden is full of unusual plants and we run a small nursery
www.shadyplants.com.
There are tables and chairs beside the stream for
you to drink your afternoon tea. You can waste a lot of time just
gazing at the Koi in our large pond.
You are welcome to look around the pretty garden and see if you
can find Topsy the tortoise (she loves dandelions) or Wilde the cat
snoozing in the sun.
There is ample parking space for 2/3 cars.
Breakfast is served in the lounge/breakfast room.

Grapefruit, orange juice, yoghurt, fruit and cereals to which
you help your self.
Then you have the choice of scrambled egg and smoked salmon or a
full English breakfast :
Tomatoes, mushrooms, sausages. bacon and egg.
Or any combination of the above.
Then toast and local jams and marmalade.
All produce is sourced locally where possible and Fairtrade
coffee and teas are offered. Vegetarian and coeliac and other
special diets are catered for.
